Student Membership Field Trip

Several National Honor Society members from San Marcos High School learned about the 1884 Hays County Jail and enjoyed a tour of the museum in the Hays County Courthouse September 15. Linda Coker of Heritage and the Hays County Historical Commission led the tour, which also included some other historic sites along Martin Luther King Drive. Two of those touring are student members of the Heritage Association, which is a new category of membership initiated this year. Those attending the tour were Kaila Adams, Kat Postert, Cian Gasper, Zelda Kneese, and Emerson Wanner

2019 Membership Picnics

Three membership appreciation History Picnics are on the calendar for 2019 at three historic locations. If you missed the March 16 and June 8 events, please save the date for the Oct. 19 event at the City Cemetery from 1-3 p.m. Kids are welcome and can wear their Halloween costumes! The topic is "Murder & Mayhem" in San Marcos.
Each year, Heritage members gather for informal events to celebrate the culture and history of our city. Past events have included ice cream or cobbler socials with historical displays, screenings of documentary films or oral history videos, and potluck dinners with special guest speakers or presentations. Guests are welcome to attend these gatherings to learn more about the Association and its goals. Many of those who come as friends leave as new members.
